Dairi Prima Mineral

PT Dairi Prima Mineral (DPM) is an underground zinc mining project located the Dairi Regency in the Indonesian province of North Sumatra. To blend in with local community and local government, DPM initially began with a Pakpak house roof form and a shield for their logo. After a decade the logo’s appearance became outdated and disordered by the inconsistency in their stationery (see the first image below). DPM’s president director asked DID to help them redesign their logo to align with the DPM new vision and mission. One of the most important tasks in redesigning the logo was to capture the essence and true philosophy of the Pakpak House. DID worked closely with one of the DPM’s managers, a native from a Dairi tribe. With his guidance, DID recrafted and simplified the essential elements of the Pakpak house without sacrificing cultural meaning.
